Walking the Talk

If you've ever wandered down the back hallway at Convivium, you've probably noticed the large circular decal on the wall that reads GROW – COOK – EAT.

Those three simple words aren't just a slogan—they're the heart of everything we do.

We grow food in neighborhood gardens. We teach people how to cook it. Then we gather around the table to share a meal. Along the way, strangers become friends, skills become confidence, and food becomes a way to build healthier, more connected communities. Lives are improved.

On Saturday, August 8, you'll have the opportunity to experience that mission firsthand at our annual Garden Gala.

Unlike a traditional fundraiser, the Garden Gala isn't simply a dinner—it's an invitation to step inside the Convivium story.

The evening begins with a progressive cocktail hour through three of our neighborhood gardens. As you stroll from one garden to the next at your own pace, you'll enjoy small bites and handcrafted beverages created from ingredients grown in the very space where you're standing. It's a chance to taste the gardens at the peak of summer while seeing firsthand how empty backyards have become places of beauty, nourishment, and community.

From there, everyone gathers back at Convivium to share a family-style dinner celebrating the harvest. Nearly every vegetable on your plate has been grown by our staff and volunteers in garden spaces just steps away.

This year's menu features garlic naan, kale and parsley tabbouleh, purple potato-leek gratin, rainbow roasted carrots with whipped feta and hot honey, beef braciole, and a trio of garden-inspired desserts.

Every ticket purchased helps us continue improving lives through food. Your support allows us to teach cooking skills, grow fresh produce in our neighborhoods, provide healthy meals to those facing food insecurity, and create spaces where people from every background can come together around the table.

We hope you'll join us for an evening that celebrates not only the harvest, but the incredible things that happen when a community grows, cooks, and eats together.

Tickets are still available and can be purchased here.

If you can't attend but would still like to support our work, please consider making a donation here. Every gift helps us continue growing something much bigger than food.

Yours convivially,
