ANNUAL COMMUNITY EVENTS
Throughout the year, Convivium hosts four signature community events that celebrate the power of food, connection and education. Each event is rooted in our mission to improve life through food—and every ticket, plate and cup shared helps support that work.
SOUPER BOWL SUNDAY
NEXT DATE: February 1, 2026
Souper Bowl Sunday is an event that raises awareness about food insecurity in the Dubuque community and raises funds for St. Stephen’s branch of the Riverbend Food Bank, as well as Convivium.
Upon arrival, attendees select a handmade ceramic soup bowl made, and generously donated by local artists, that they can then fill with soups that were made and donated by local restaurants. It is a casual and fun event where people can mingle, continue trying and enjoying the varieties of soups and hear from commuinity leaders regarding the state of food insecurity in Dubuque.
COMMUNITY MAPLING PANCAKE BREAKFAST

This event starts in late winter when Convivium helps local residents tap and collect sap from their backyard maple trees! Over the next couple of weeks, these residents continue to collect the sap and then deliver it to Convivium where we begin to boil it all down into maple syrup. Then, the last Saturday in April, we host a Pay-what-you-can Pancake Breakfast from 9 am to noon – where everyone is welcome to come enjoy delicious pancakes topped with the freshly made maple syrup.

NEIGHBORHOOD OPEN HOUSE

Our annual Neighborhood Open House has two goals: (1) to showcase and promote Convivium – our facility, neighborhood gardens, community outreach and programming, and (2) to bring people who live in other parts of Dubuque to explore the North End.
We host tours on the hour from 9 am until 1 pm and offer samples of our housemade products. Also check out a demonstration of our honey extraction process.
GARDEN GALA

Convivium’s Garden Gala is our annual immersive fundraising event. Supporters experience a progressive cocktail hour through our garden spaces - having a bite to eat and a sip of a cocktail made from ingredients grown in that exact space. Afterwards, attendees convene back at Convivium for a full meal highlighting our harvest.
