Friends of Convivium

Monday, November 2, 2026

For almost a year, I’ve been sharing stories of the work we do, interesting tidbits of our day-to-day lives at Convivium alongside examples and explanations of the meaningful work that our team does each and every day. If you’ve taken a formal guided tour of Convivium you might have heard me share the “why” of all of this.

So many people have asked me that question in one form or another. Why did you start this? How did you come up with this idea? And it’s a good question. Launching a business/non-profit based on bringing people together through food with the ultimate goal of improving lives is not taught in Business 101.

There was and still is no roadmap for what we are trying to accomplish here. But based on many years in the corporate world, we knew we had to be successful financially.  We knew from the outset that we wanted to have a set of revenue generating services (restaurant, catering, event center, homemade products) that help support the community building work that we do (neighborhood gardens, gardening classes, culinary education, free community casseroles). And for the most part, we’ve done that. It’s been nine years of very hard work by a passionate and dedicated team of people and I am so proud of what we have accomplished.

As we grow and become known regionally, nationally and even internationally, we have been exploring more formal ways that people can support the work that we do.  That’s why we’re launching our Friend of Convivium program.

Friends are those who provide on-going monthly financial support through a recurring donation of at least $40 a month.

At that level, a Friend helps provide a healthy, vegetable forward casserole to a neighbor every week for a year.

But you’d be supporting much more than a casserole. You’re helping us grow food, teach people how to grow and cook food, create a connection and a place of belonging and keep Convivium doing what we’ve been doing from the very beginning: Improving Life through Food.

Four times a year we’ll send our Friends a little taste of Convivium – a seasonal gift made here, as our thank you for being a part of this community.

We’re starting with a goal of 100 Friends – with a minimum monthly level of $40. Founding Friends will receive a special gift of a limited edition harvest tote bag.

Become a Friend of Convivium Here

P.S. I left a corporate career to build Convivium because I believed food could do more than feed us. Nine years later, I believe that more than ever. Thank you for being part of this story—and for helping us write the next chapter.

Yours convivially,
