Hello Friends!

If you’ve been to Convivium Urban Farmstead lately and made your way back to the restrooms, you’ve likely seen this graphic on the wall. We call this our “wheel” and it is a simple, graphic representation of all that we do at Convivium.

Our mission – to improve life through food – really starts with helping people connect to their own health, their community and the environment. We focus on providing CLASSESDEMONSTRATIONS and EXPERIENCES to help create these connections. We focus our efforts on three parts of the food cycle GROWINGCOOKING and ENJOYING food.

Today, I want to talk a little more about the philosophy and structure of our CLASSES.

With every class we teach we aim to empower our participants with the knowledge, skills and confidence to try those things at home.

Class fees are also how we help support the outreach work we are doing to help people who struggle with food access.

We also understand that it is not in everyone’s budget to take one of our classes. So, we have adopted a modified sliding fee schedule so everyone can have access to the skills that we teach in these classes.

Supporter: The supporter level is the base ticket price of this class. It covers all the supplies and materials needed, as well as the instructor fee.

Sustainer: The sustainer level is a buy-one, give-one model that covers the complete cost of your class plus a small donation that helps supplement the cost of a Contributor level participant. By choosing this level, you are ensuring we can continue to offer this class in a way that is accessible and affordable to all.

Contributor: The contributor level is a pay-what-you-can option that allows you to do just that – pay what you are able to for the class, at this time. (Please note there is a $5 minimum required by our ticketing platform, Eventbrite).

In this way, we hope to provide opportunities for anyone who would like to take a class.

Yours convivially,
