Kids Classes & Camps

CONNECTING KIDS TO FOOD

Convivium's kids programming includes fun, hands-on classes and camps that connect kids to their food, both in the garden and the kitchen.

Kids learn about where food comes from and how it grows through an interactive tour of our neighborhood gardens -- harvesting and tasting whatever is in season. They learn simple ways to turn real food ingredients into healthy snacks, homemade pizza dough, and egg omelets full of veggies they harvested themselves.

We believe interacting with food is the best way to encourage kids to make healthy food choices, to see themselves as having an active role in our food system, and to be inspired to take care of our environment. We also believe these long-term goals come to fruition through a spark of interest after a kid picks and eats something right out of the garden, is taught a new skill in the kitchen, or experiences the pride of preparing, enjoying, and sharing a meal they made themselves.

Pizza Making Day Camps 2025

Ages 7 – 11 |Thursday, July 17 | 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
Ages 12 – 17 |Thursday, August 14| 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

Each camp will start with a garden tour, where participants will pick their own fresh pizza toppings straight from Convivium’s gardens. They’ll then make pizza dough from scratch, learn all about the history of pizza, and play engaging food-themed games. The day will include each child creating their own unique pizza, which we’ll cook together in our outdoor pizza oven!  Participants will  have the opportunity to meet our chickens too, who also love fresh healthy foods!  These informative and interactive camps will be led by Convivium’s Culinary Resource Director, Chef Cena, who will guide kids through the joy of cooking with fresh ingredients and making food from scratch.  To register for either camp, click on the Age range above that you are interested in.  Email our Program Coordinator, Jessica, with any questions.

Class Partnerships

If you are interested in partnering with Convivium to offer a tour or class for youth at your organization, please contact our Program Coordinator, Jessica, to coordinate.

Group Classes

Our group classes are the perfect event for your scout troop, after-school club, or even your child's next birthday party. We offer a variety of classes, for different age levels, that will have your kids chopping, mixing, and baking up all sorts of different treats.

We are working on our group class options; stay tuned!
