Help us increase access to healthy food.
We are aiming to raise $50,000 by the end of 2021 to help increase access to healthy food through our free casserole program and our healthy-habits cooking classes. We believe by providing free, wholesome meals, as well as offering classes that teach the skills of how to grow and prepare your own food, we can significantly reduce the number of food insecure individuals and families in our community. Will you help us?
Your donation will directly support Convivium’s:
- 1. Community Casserole Program. Each week, we distribute over 200 healthy, whole foods based casseroles to our neighbors in need. Over 70% of our recipients report a household income of $25,000 or less. Each casserole costs about $8 to make.
- 2. Common Beds. These are raised-bed gardens located near Convivium that we plant and tend for the sole purpose of giving away the resulting produce. We currently have 10 Common Beds throughout the North End neighborhood, and each year it costs us about $250 to plant and maintain each one.
- 3. Classes. This is our passion – teaching people about food! Whether that is growing food or preparing food, we are looking to increase the number of classes we offer free of charge to those who need it. In 2022, we are looking to expand our proven four-week, eating healthy on a budget curriculum to offer it 4 times a year to 50 students. Each four-week class costs $1200.
Providing wholesome meals to families that need it, sharing fresh vegetables through neighborhood garden beds, and teaching the skills of how to grow and prepare your own food – this is our daily work of making healthy food more accessible and affordable.
Thank you to our generous supporters.
